Another of our latest 360 projects has seen us joining forces with the British Aerobatic Academy, the only aerobatic academy in the UK.
We’ve put VR users in the cockpit of a DHL sponsored Extra 200, capable of every aerobatic manoeuvre in the book, alongside the expertise of seasoned pilot Adrian Willis to create an experience that showcases the thrills aerobatics can offer.
Adrian performed as many stomach-churning manoeuvres as he could, while we filmed footage using our 14-camera GoPro rig. We are now in the process of creating the ultimate aerobatic VR experience for Oculus Rift, Google Cardboard and other VR platforms which will be available to download soon.
Viewed in a web based 360 video player the footage is impressive, but when seen in virtual reality you’re able to experience what it’s like to be piloting a plane performing high octane manoeuvres. Whether from a thrill-seeking perspective or for training purposes, this project showcases the potential this technology allows us in delivering experiences that most will never encounter for real.
