3D artist Matt Painter worked closely with the creative team at BBH London and photographer Giles Revell to create both this short animation and still image to promote the launch of the Ascend P1 phone to the UK market for international telecoms company Huawei.
For the still image, Giles had photographed the phone and also taken a CT scan of the lily which we could then use to make a 3D wireframe mesh. After building the rest of the flower and atom elements in 3D I then used a software called Modo to individually fracture elements by hand to creating the colliding effect. explains Matt.
Once created in 3D the still image and particles were refined by retoucher Chris Roome. The 3D assets where then also used to create the short animation where visual effects of the explosion where created by the Happy Finish team using VFX effects in Realflow. To see more of Matt's work click here.
