It's with great please that we announce the latest addition to our CG Department as we welcome Kevin Shepherd to the team.
Kevin originally trained as an architect, first at Westminster University, where he won a RIBA President's Medal and won a scholarship to the Architectural Association School of Architecture.
"I became fascinated with the idea of electronics, space and virtual worlds, so much so that I became a runner in various special effects companies just to gain access to powerful 3d computers where I could explore those ideas further. Needless to say, at the time home access to such computers was impossible".
Kevin then spent the next two decades working for companies such as Arden Sutherland Dodd, Hugues Macdonald, Red, Smoke and Mirrors, and MPC. For the last seven years he was at Saddington Baynes where he became their CG supervisor.
Away from work, Kevin is a practicing fine artist often working on commission. Most recent works were from Hiscox Insurance and Bafta, and he was recently shortlisted for Art Angel and The Lumen Prize - www.vucicshepherd.com
Kevin is also in a band called Family Circle, where they explore the fusion of electronics and cake mix. "I play and build synths under my alter ego Gary Baldi!".
"I am very excited to join Happy Finish at this stage in my career. It is an exciting, growing company with huge opportunities to do interesting and cutting edge work. Along with the cg stills and animation I am very interested in the Happy Finish interactive team. I am excited to have a chance to investigate these new and emerging fields with them, contributing my understanding of architecture and VR. I think very interesting things will emerge".
Happy Finish CEO Simon Gosling adds:
"If I've learnt one thing after 25 years in post production, it's that you're only as good as the talent you employ. Kevin is, quite simply, one of the best CG Artists and minds in the business and I'm thrilled to welcome him to our growing creative team".
